My Mother is the Champion!

My mum always calls me approaching 1730hrs to ask me if I am going home for dinner.

(Think I mentioned it in one of the posts)

Considering the number of times I have not been eating home. Also feel a little bad lah.

Saw the phone ring at 1730hrs, with my mum's picture appearing (these days phones can really do amazing stuff), confirmed must be asking about dinner. True enough.

Mum : Are you coming home for dinner?

Prawnkid : Hmm Nah, Ok Lah, I am going home to eat tonight.

Mum : Ok, BUT I NEVER COOK. Am going to the church opposite for a praise concert.

*Mum goes "hehehe" in the background*

Prawnkid : .............

Mum, today you are the champion!

Anything

Does ANYTHING really mean ANYTHING for food preference??

Prawnkid : Let's go for dinner. What do you wanna eat?

Potential Dinner Mate : Anything.

Prawnkid : Ok, let's go for sushi.

Potential Dinner Mate : I don't really wanna eat raw stuff.

Prawnkid : Then how about steamboat. Everything can be cooked! *yummy*

Potential Dinner Mate : Nah, still need to cook yourself and perspire.

Prawnkid : Ok.....hmmmz.....Carl's Junior? Heard it is good, I never tried it.

Potential Dinner Mate : Don't eat fast food for dinner lah...

Prawnkid : Yeah...I guess not...let's just go to a foodcourt then...

Potential Dinner Mate : Always eat the usual........got better place?

Prawnkid : Depends on what you wanna eat, then think of location would be easier lo....

*Both parties thinking for a few seconds*

Potential Dinner Mate : Hmmm..........

Prawnkid : So how? Thought of what you wanna eat yet?

Potential Dinner Mate : ANYTHING.

*Prawnkid sits down, pah popping at what just happened*

The above story is not exactly what happened because there were variants of it. But similarities have definitely occured.

A Special Day

Ninth of August is a special day
We don't have to go to school
We all can play
We are dressed in our best
Especially for today
Hip Hip Hurray
For National Day

Happy Birthday Singapore!

Happy Be-earlied Birthday Singapore!

Hmmm, thinking of taking half a day off in the afternoon, paint my face red and run down the streets. (Yeah right, I don't think I am THAT patroitic.) Ironically, I would wear an England jersey during the World Cup, but not any clothes that depict my own country at any time.

Gone were the days that I was such a fanatic fan of Singapore (soccer). And there was the emergence of the Kopi Kat Klan....(Y U So Like Dat Ah?)

*music ringing in the head*

If only I have ten Fandi
All with the skills of V Sundramoorthy
We will win the Malaysian Cup
We will not be called kuching kurup
No one will beat Singapore *hey hey hey hey*
Not even Pahang or Johor
We will win the Malaysian Cup
We will not be called kuching kurup

The Lake House

Just finished watching The Lake House.

Good show.

This confirms that movie reviews cannot be trusted. They should even be sacked. Goodness. What kind of crap reviews are they writing. Maybe I should be headhunted.

Anyway, recommended show.

The ticketing staff asked me the time of show I wanted to watch. There was only one screening at 2135hrs. What answer was she expecting??? Two years from tomorrow???

Festival Of Rock

Went for Festival Of Praise yesterday. Seems more like Festival Of Rock at the end of it. Did not exactly appeal to me. But I guess everything would have changed through the years. I cannot expect Festival Of Praise to be the same as when I participated in 1993 and 1994.

They don't even cater space for all those involvement now. I guess it was better to use the space to put more chairs for more people to participate in the events.

Well, it's Delirious for next year's Festival Of Praise then. When I first listened to Delirious CDs, people think that I listen to noisy music and have weird music taste. Now everybody loves Delirious just like Hillsongs. Weird.............would still go for Parachute Band...............

Maybe Kent Henry or Bob Fitts or Graham Kendrick!!! should return........

Click

Was supposed to watch The Lake House yesterday, but missed the timing. Ended up watching Click. Figured it should be ok to just catch a comedy and relax out.

Surprisingly, Click is more than just a comedy. The underlying plot of the story becomes life questioning. It is almost a wake up call.

The question now is : What Would I Do?

This movie is good enough for me to decide to get the DVD when it is out :o)

Oh yeah, Happy Birthday Karen!

Man & Machines

Just finished the RT (Remedial Training) session for today. The trainers tried to make it interesting by having a competition between the new PTIs (Physical Training Instructors) vs the reservists. There were 115 of us vs 25 of them. Competition: Number of pull-ups.

As usual, most of the reservists cannot be bothered, so dun even try. Ended up with 425 for PTIs taking the win. That is an average of 16 pull-ups per PTI. I think they are machines dressed like humans...

The PTI for reservist decided to help by doing pull-ups to count towards our side. They are seasoned machines. Three of them did 25 each. I dun think they drink Redbull, they probably eat the entire bull. Can't believe such people exist....in numbers too....

Soon there is no more RT for me.....YEAH.....and welcome to IPT.....

Different name, same shit.....(at least lesser quantity though)

Complete Closure

Been a while since my break-up with Irene. Have gotten over it for some time and very well. For some reason, some people refuse to believe it. Think they are holding on to her, not me.

I am very well and am very grateful for those who were there for me all the time.

Especially Tingie. You made me see life in lots of different angles that I did not before.

Ah Gal, Atom, you both were always there.

Crystal, Yiling, thanks for the encouragement and being there.

Him, without You, nothing is possible.

After my post yesterday about completeness, it seems a divine touch that I had a conversation with Irene. Tonight, there is complete closure.

The hands must learn to let go of what we think is good for us,
THEN only can He give us what is best for us.
:o)

His Complete Work

Took my "A Taste Of Heaven" CD and decided to give it a replay. I loved that CD so much before. Even more so after my glimpse of heaven. Playing it now brings back the nice memories.

Then I hear something...

God is here to bring deliverance that is complete.
What God finishes is completely finished.

Lesson From Job

Lesson that I learnt from the story of Job

His "good" friends decided in unison to come together and console him. They weeped for him and they go on to talk to him, console him, offer suggestions, suggest what he should do, blah blah blah.....

So often I do that. People come to me and I say what I feel or think about the situation and I give my comments.

What draws my attention is not what Job was blessed with after. (Of course the story showed how much more Job was blessed for keeping his faith.) What draws my attention was how his friends were condemned!!! After talking for more than 30 chapters in the book and they are condemned at the end.

The lesson: If you do not have godly counsel, SHUT UP.

The Good And The Bad

"Shall we accept good from God, and not trouble?" In all this, Job did not sin in what he said.

If Job can keep the faith, I can and must be able to keep the faith.

Movies

Nacho Libre
This show is damn funny........Ignacio.......have the poster as my handphone wallpaper for now....

I think this would be more worth it than Scary Movie....

Lady In The Water
Heck about the critics. I think this is quite good. Gan jiong enuff to hold my attention. Became a little funny when the lady from Nacho Libre appeared. Could hear Rachel say it, though she was two seats away. Not helping that Tingie was trying to contain her laughter AND shaking the chairs for some reason.......was wondering how come GV Plaza Sing got OSIM chairs leow.....

Dragon Tiger Gate
Caught the show with Heng Kah and Joanne. And I am glad I caught it. I think the directing was good, especially the fighting scenes. Donnie Yen makes it worth watching.

The Lake House
Will need to watch this sometime this week.

It's time to sleep and prepare for Monday blues....been a great week!

Martin's gonna lend me his blades!!!!!!!!!! Serangoon Central better watch out. There's a dangerous kid zooming around soon......... (when am I going to tell myself to go Sembawang to collect it though?????)

Ever Realised?

Been talking to a lot of people and hearing some interesting observations. Wonder if this is like a "natural" reaction:

1) The Runner
You are walking in a well populated shopping place. There are steps going down. You trip while going down the steps and fall. You get up and run away!!! Hoping that no one noticed or recognised your face!

2) Giving the "TSK" but NEVER receiving
You are shopping or walking and somehow someone blocks you. Then you go "TSK" so loud purposely for the person to hear. Then you stare until the person fades into thin air. But if you are being "TSK" at by other people, you become fed up for being "TSK" at.
Note: "TSK" is a sound produced by clenching teeth, blocking the remaining outlet between the teeth with your tongue, and then forcing out a short burst of air.

3) Damn Obvious Unpreventable Question
You see a friend at the cinema queuing at the Box Office or waiting to enter the cinema. You ask, "Watch movie ah?" (Wonder what the heck you expect the answer to be.)

Connel once suggested "No, I came here hoping to meet you by chance. How about you?"

Moving On Wheels

Went blading again this morning. So far so good, two weeks in a row leow. Mabbe Connel and Ah Lau might join in two weeks from now. If I dun receive any aeroplanes lah. Hahaha. Mabbe can psycho to take out her blades and try again. Sometimes I think blading for people at my age is more of getting over a mental block first.

But I definitely rented a better pair of blades today! Compared to last week, this is SO SO much more comfortable. Can balance better lor. Started at the beginner's rink for about 40 minutes, then the crowd started pouring in. Decided that will just proceed to the road. Wonder what made me decide that. Super scary lor.

I think I went off for at least one kilometre and then back. So that's two! Already think it is an achievement lor. Learnt two ways of falling:

1) Rolling Gravity Stop
Basically let your weight and gravity lose your momentum until you roll to a stop. Simple, just keep your balance, and make sure there is a runway to let you roll to the end.

2) Goal Celebration Stop
Even simpler. Just lose your balance, stumble forward, go on your knees, palms will naturally come out and support the fall (with wrist guards), body lunge forward, kiss the floor (optional) and there! Stop leow. (What did you think Thierry Henry was doing at the last game in Highbury. He fall down then pretend celebrate goal lah...)

I did not get hurt this time. Yeah! Joanne fell hard! Very hard! I could hear the thump! And she is not big size lor. Looking from behind and hearing the fall, the only reaction I could muster was clenching my teeth and a quick breath in through the teeth.... ssssiiiiii....... then cringe a little like as though I felt the pain......

Soon.....I will get my blades.....
(My mum suggested that now I can blade to Serangoon Central and buy food or groceries leow. NTUC got blade-thru lane meh?!)

Becoz It Makes Them Happy?

What kind of person am I?

Have been trying to ask this question to some people I know. Especially those who know me for some time. It would be good to hear what they think about me in the past and what they think about me now. Not that I totally bother with what people say about me though. But somehow at the back of my mind, it feels kind of interesting to know...

Got some mixed replies. Some say I am a good listener, some say I am not. Some say I very carefree and what you see is what you get, while others think I keep everything to myself and I may not be what I seem. Some feel I am interesting, while others feel I may be irritating. Weird huh? Not really....I guess it all depends on when you caught me and what I am thinking or going through at that point of time.

For those who know me well, I place friends in a very high priority in my life. In a sense, I might be closer to my friends than my family. I talk more and share more with friends. I do a lot for my friends because that is how I want myself to be as a friend to them. For a long time, I subconciously develop an unspoken expectation that my friends have the same model of friendship. Unfortunately not.

But one thing I know. How I treat you should not be dependent on how you treat me. I want to be unconditional.

Disappointments in situations for me may be temporary, but disappointments from friends leave me with a heartbreak and a scar. As much as I crave the same, I hope I do the same to forgive and forget.

Mistakes -- OK , Regret -- NO

When I was born, life was simple. Kids never used to think that much. What is more important than having fun, eating when you are hungry, watching cartoon when you want to, etc...?

Slowly I grew a little older. Being cute is like the "in" thing for kids at that age. Everyone likes to be well-liked. Somehow it must have stuck, since I still hear people use "cute" to describe me. I'm turning 30!!! You must be so kidding to still use that kind of description....

Then came the schooling years...worked hard (but definitely not enuff), and played even harder (would gladly dedicate more effort doing this). Those were the days. Will always think back. I literally had a bunch of buddies who would dig into our pockets, combined all the coins that we had, bought a plastic ball, arrange four bags as goalposts and there we go having the game of our lives. It's a pity we don't get to play that often now. Miss those times...

Poly went by in almost a breeze. Was busy with Festival of Praise then. Yes, I was a dancer. But not the clubbing type hor. Was also in the pioneer batch of Eternal Splashes and joined again one year later (with a much smaller role by then).

Army was next. Made a couple of crazy friends. Still meet up every reservist and have the time of our lives. University came straight after. My life moulded quite a lot in this time. It was also the time that I got "A Taste Of Heaven". It's so fantastic that I do not know how to describe it.

Now working life. Suddenly almost 30 years of my life has gone past. Time flies.

I made mistakes in my life and that is fine. It is part and parcel of growing up. I remember mistakes as the funny things that happened in my life, so they are nice memories. I think making mistakes in life is definitely OK, but making a regretful decision, that haunts.

Goal for the remainder of 2006:

Mistakes -- OK
Regret -- NO

14 Statements, 1 Conclusion?

Here are 14 statements to see if a person know who he/she loves. It's pretty interesting to know your own answer at the end. I'm surprised how direct the statements are.

#14
You look at their profile picture all the time.

#13
When you are on the phone with them late at night and they hang up, you still miss them even when it was just two minutes ago.

#12
You read their texts or IM's over and over again.

#11
You walk really slow when you're with them.

#10
You feel shy whenever they're around.

#9
When you think about them, your heart beats faster and slower at the same time.

#8
You smile when you hear their voice.

#7
When you look at them, you can't see the other people around you. All you see is him / her.

#6
You start listening to slow songs, while thnking of them.

#5
They're all you think about.

#4
You get high just from their scent.

#3
You realise that you're always smiling to yourself when you think about them.

#2
You would do anything for them, or anything to see them.

#1
While reading this, there was one person on your mind the whole time...

Ultimately, who is it at #1 leh?

Type Of Person At Work

Read an article this morning. There are three types of person at work. Which kind am I?

Proactives
Those intrepid warriors chasing new ideas, and no matter their age, they can be found looking forward to the next vast vista of opportunities.

Reactives
Those who have a propensity to watch things happen. They will stay in a job they hate for the money and the security.

Inactives
Those who show up in life with little interest other than living out their existence on this planet.

Somehow I think that I am a mixture. Wanting to be the first, sometimes feel like the second, most part living out the third.
